Visual Literacy
What does visual literacy mean? When we think of visual literacy, we refer to our awareness levels and the importance of visual communication in our everyday lives. Nevertheless, it also affects our ability to interpret and make meaningful assumptions or thoughts from diving deeper into an image's context. When we focus on examining something, like an image, we see the way that the images influence our understanding and have the potential to validate, reveal, and construct the world as we know it. However, why is Visual literacy critical? Well, it can improve one's creativity, critical thinking, empathy, communication, comprehension, and motivation, all essential skills for the youth to learn quickly. Visual literacy can also help store information longer, which is essential for test taking, make communication quicker and more straightforward, and spark curiosity and interest in a tricky subject that previously would have caused negative emotions and feelings. In other words, it can alter the effort someone puts into a class.
