Lacrosse (Open Topic)

Image
I can't believe I've skipped this topic for so long; it's my favorite sport. Anyway, Lacrosse is often referred to as "the fastest game on two feet" and known as the fastest-growing sport in the world, well before pickleball's popularity suddenly skyrocketed. Not many people know; even those who play the sport know it originated among Native American tribes, particularly the Iroquois and Algonquin nations. For Native Americans, the game served various purposes, including settling disputes and training warriors. The first games of Lacrosse could have hundreds of players and were played on vast fields with goals placed miles apart. French missionaries in the 17th century saw the game and named it "la crosse" because of the players' unique equipment. Over time, Lacrosse evolved and gained popularity in North America, and the sport continued to grow, leading to rules and leagues. Two professional leagues exist nowadays, the MLL and PLL. The PLL was ...

The gorgeous game of Golf (Open Topic)

Image
I am a Golf fan; Golf is a unique sport because it includes frustrations like none you'll experience in any other sport. Played on wide open settings, with long, winding fairways, sandy bunkers, and wet ponds. Golf is such a mental challenge, way more than you would ever believe. The game is quite simple to play: you use a club, and there are many different clubs to choose from that hit the ball higher or lower in the air depending on the distance to the hole; you hit a small ball into holes (Usually 18 holes) on a course in as few strokes as possible. What sets golf apart is the atmosphere and the friendships among players. This summer, my friends and I went once or twice a week; I was one of the worst ones, but it's okay because it's a game that allows you to have fun even if you chunk a few shots consecutively. It's a game that demands a lot like focus, patience, and technique, which are many things I struggle with, which could explain my struggles on the course. Th...

Snowboarding (Open Topic)

Image
Snowboarding is a widely known winter sport on tall, glistening, white mountain peaks. The sport was invented in 1965; however, it didn't widely become popular until the mid-80s, when people who wanted to snowboard had to walk up hills to do so because many ski resorts banned them from obtaining ski lift passes due to the usual crowd that used snowboarders which were reckless and loud, taking away from the peaceful atmosphere to the skiers. Today, almost all except three ski resorts have lifted the ban on snowboarders, all except Deer Valley, Alta Ski Resort, and Mad River Glenn. Today, there are about 8 million snowboarders in the USA, which is still growing thanks to athletes in the Olympic Winter Games like Red Gerard and Chloe Kim, who both earned gold as recently as 2022 and 2018.  Enough with the history. When I was in the first grade, my dad brought me to my First Mountain, or as most would consider it, a hill, But for Michigan, it was still decent in size. He brought ...

Broncos (Open Topic)

Image
The Denver Broncos are a professional sports team in the NFL (National Football League). They are situated in the AFC West alongside the Chargers, Raiders, and Chiefs. I've been a team fan for a while now, since at least 2010. In 2012, they signed Peyton Manning, one of the best QB's ever. Peyton led the team to a better record, and in 2013, they had what is considered the greatest offense of all time based on points scored and yards scored. They ultimately lost in the Super Bowl or the NFL championship game. In 2015, or Peyton Mannings last year, the offense declined, but the defense was outstanding and considered also to be one of the best of all time. We would win the Super Bowl against the 15-1 Carolina Panthers that year. What a year! Since then, it's been awful. The Broncos have had one winning season since; they've had over ten different starting quarterbacks. Last year, we traded for an all-pro quarterback named Russell Wilson; we gave up two first-round picks f...
