Feels about CARD101
This is a tricky thing to write about because I already feel like im not the best at reflecting on things in general, but I'll give it my best shot. Reflecting on all the assignments we've worked on for CARD, my favorite has got to be these blog posts, most notably, the period we were able to do open topics about whatever we wanted. I had a blast blogging about Lacrosse, Snowboarding, and the Broncos, to name a few. Just writing about things that are interesting to you, in my opinion, makes it feel more like expressing your thoughts and having a good time reminiscing about good memories associated with those topics rather than the fact that you wouldn't be writing if it wasn't for it being a mandatory homework assignment. Of all the essays we did, the Rational Argument was my favorite because although we got to pick our topic for each, I enjoyed most writing and researching about soccer and the Qatar World Cup. In addition, there weren't any unique parameters to follow, like the 1-page aspect from the microtheme or writing Ethos, Pathos, and Logos like in the documentary, although I did do a little of that in the Rational Argument. It was the most normal paper, which allowed me to stay within my comfort zone. However, writing those other papers got me outside my writing comfort zone, which will make me a much better writer in the long run.
There were a bunch of valuable takeaways from the class that will prove extremely useful in the future. As a freshman in my first semester of college, I have seven semesters to go, each having four classes, which adds up; the number of papers I'll have to write will be a lot. Many will require credible sources like academic journal articles. Learning how to find these on Cardinal Search and using the other resources proved very useful during the rational argument, and it will continue to be very useful in future classes I take requiring these academic journal articles. I also learned about quote sandwiches; in high school or middle school, we never used them, which is quite odd because they're a necessary component of an essay, but the fact that I didn't learn them was startling. I compared my rational argument essay before and after I edited it to have more quote sandwiches, although, as stated in another blog post, in reflection, I could have done a better job adding these in. It still elevated my paper to a higher degree, and although it's something small, it makes a larger-than-life difference, thanks to CARD 101.
(Since their is not much I can add a picture of for this topic, I'll just add a picture of my dad and me going to a Broncos game in Chicago this year since I did an open topic blogpost about it like I mentioned in this post)

Aidan, When you write, "Just writing about things that are interesting to you, in my opinion, makes it feel more like expressing your thoughts and having a good time reminiscing about good memories associated with those topics rather than the fact that you wouldn't be writing if it wasn't for it being a mandatory homework assignment," I feel so rewarded. It was delightful watching you blossom as a writer!
